This week vulnerable young people from Bradford have moved into a new home which local MP, Naz Shah, has described as “completed to an exceptionally high standard and has a positive feel to it. The quality of the housing demonstrates that the young people are at the heart of Valicity Care Services.”
Young people who are ‘looked after’ by local authorities often find themselves in soulless – or even worse substandard accommodation. Valicity Care Services is offering something new to local authorities and the vulnerable young people they look after. Eric Yeboah House in Bradford offers five-bedrooms in a family-style home for care leavers and individuals with enduring mental health issues.
It’s not just high-quality accommodation that the young people living at Eric Yeboah House benefit from. They are supported to gain life skills to make their own path in the world, overcoming the difficulties life throws at them.
The team have been picked as not only professionals with experience of working with vulnerable young people but also for their life experience which allows them to empathise with those they care for. For example, one member of staff was formerly homeless.
In addition, to making sure that the young people they look after have the support they need Valicity Care Services is a responsible employer. It pays its staff the London Living Wage and encourages them to take part in training to gain new skills to improve their career – as well as the support they provide to those they look after.
I really like the accommodation and the staff are supportive. I was buzzing after the phone call from Dean Whyte. I’m looking forward to meeting him and going to the gym to train with him
We are delighted to be able to offer support to young people who need it most. We always seek to raise standards and with Eric Yeboah House we are providing superior accommodation with outstanding support workers. At Valicity we provide unique care to meet the individual needs of each of our young people. Through our wide-ranging support, we help each young person create a bright and independent future for themselves.
I am delighted that Valicity Care Services have opened their first home in Bradford, right here in my constituency. I have had a virtual tour of the house, it has been completed to an exceptionally high standard and has a positive feel to it. The quality of the housing demonstrates that the young people are at the heart of Valicity Care Services. Meeting with the leadership of the organisation, has also proved this to me too. They have a strong culture which makes a difference to the young people’s lives. The increase in skilled jobs which are paid at the London Living Wage has been a great boost to our local economy. Valicity Care Services are blazing the trail and I hope other care providers will follow.
